![]() ![]() This isn’t to say the ppl working on the OmniFocus app are working hard to create it, I’m sure they are, but there wants a true need for them to stray away from the classic OmniFocus 1 that did things right. But the daily use of the app is uninspiring. ![]() I will applaud their OmniSync server offering which is incredible however and has never been hacked or anything of that sort. Pro Upgrade, 24.99 for mac vs 29.99 for iOS I am able to upgrade my omnifocus 3 on mac to pro for 24. Now that OF4 is around the corner for both MacOS and iOS I’m debating whether to jump ship and leave the OmniGroup. ![]() Granted OF2 isn’t all that different but have felt it to be tolerable. I’ve used OF3 before many times on different accounts and devices and it just didn’t do much for me. Just got a notification on my iPhone saying OF2 won’t work with iOS 16 and I’m beyond saddened. Sure i can get by with them but pen and paper could do a slightly better job, but that obviously means carrying around paper everywhere all over again as if I’m back in 2007. Now, OmniFocus 3 and OmniFocus 4 are just so different and not really as great. It was simple but it got things done and did it well. If you have the pro version you can set custom perspectives for example to view all tasks sorted by due date, all tasks with certain text, for example I have a perspective that shows me all my clients domains sorted by renewal date, as the tasks all start with “domain renewal” and the perspective is set to search for that phrase.I was there when OF1 first was introduced to the Mac. That actually does it for me, the folders have specific projects in and some single action lists, its taken me a long time to get to what works for me, and probably I will always experiment with any setup, its part of the fun □. Firstly define some areas in projects (folders) I have Routines, Business, Current Clients, Personal and Future/on Hold.ĭon’t go mad with contexts, just Google some options, some work on energy levels (I do not have that luxury) I use (for stuff I can do on any machine) (for code compiling where I NEED the mac and a couple of others specific to what I do. My advice would be to try and run two systems in parallel, the notebook and OF. However it has an overhead in learning and maintenance, firstly work out if its actually worth it to you personally, maybe not maybe yes. Personally I have never read GTD but for me OF is the best in class and handles a hell of a lot of stuff for me. It depends really on the OF version you have, the Pro version gives many more options to set custom perspectives to segment your work. That is why I developed a plug-in which two-way-syncs a project in OmniFocus with a Kanban Board in Notion. As you may know, OmniFocus is primarily aimed at GTD users, so you may want to familiarise yourself with GTD if you’re not already.
